DIY – Can you save money doing the work on your own?
Clients often wonder whether doing legal work themselves will save on expenses.
In my experience, the answer is no.
If you intend to work with Russell Law I would prefer to be involved in your matter from the beginning, and see it through to conclusion. When there are background tasks you can do yourself, to save on my time — sure. Let’s do that.
But we will achieve greatest efficiency and effectiveness if you authorize me to perform all of the services that your matter requires. If that is not the case, we end up spending even more time coordinating our efforts, backtracking, and cleaning up your mistakes. Long term, you will not be as well served and you will probably end up spending more money than necessary.
Not to mention added stress. Who needs it? Trying to be something you’re not isn’t comfortable. So it’s stressful for you and (want the truth?) it’s stressful for me. My life is a lot easier and you’re better served, when you let me do my job so you can focus on yours.
